overview
The ability to make great recordings is no longer restricted to millionaire producers in fancy studios. This is the era of DIY and home recording! While the internet is a wealth of information, it's also flooded with clickbait and tutorials that you could spend hours scrolling through. This workshop is a chance to spend a few hours together discussing a wide range of topics related to recording and mixing music. With over two decades of experience recording in home studio environments, I can share insights on room acoustics, recording/mixing techniques, and much more, to improve the sound of your recordings.

During this in-person workshop, we will create and listen back to recordings real-time, allowing us to experiment with different recording and mixing techniques, compare microphones, and try out different setups.

One of the most important skills as a musician or producer is the ability to listen. Throughout this workshop, there will be an emphasis on how and where to focus our attention when listening to a mix. Have you ever watched someone tweak a setting on a plugin and you can't, for the life of you, figure out what they changed? Let's fix that. Developing a keen ear is just as important as learning about gear and theory, and it will help you in any musical situation you find yourself in.

All levels welcome, no prerequisite experience necessary. Workshop offerings will be differentiated by experience level to best meet you where you're at. Small group setting.
